Taking Sunday Ticket to a New Level
I love NFL history. I love watching old ballgames. In fact, I love watching NFL Films presentations.
Recent series such as America's Game , or Full Color Football (A five-part series on the AFL) are extremely well done, and thoroughly enjoyable to watch.
But I have an idea that would take history lovers to an entirely new place, and would make Direct TV and the NFL some more money.

I suggest the NFL History Ticket. "What would this be," you ask? Here is my idea.
First, this would be something offered by Direct TV and the NFL during the off-season.
Second, this would be something that costs the same as the NFL Sunday Ticket package.
Third, this would be something that would function just like the NFL Sunday Ticket.
- Games would air once per week
- There would be an assigned channel for each game
- I bet they could even figure out a way to use a red zone channel in association with it
- Finally, you would air every game, just as if it was live, from a chosen past season.
For example, the NFL and Direct TV could announce that this summer it will be airing the 1973 NFL season. Fans can purchase the NFL History Ticket and if they purchase the ticket, beginning on a decided upon date, every Sunday the games from 1973 would be aired.
On the first Sunday you would have Week One of the 1973 season and all the games would be re-broadcast just as if they were live. You could even have a certain amount of the games scheduled to air at noon and other games scheduled to air at 3:00 pm.
You would follow the season week by week, and then broadcast the playoffs and the Super Bowl from that season.
If the games are on film, and I'm guessing they are, and if the technology exists to broadcast them this way, and I'm sure it does, then it is a winner all around. The NFL and Direct TV win by having one more football product to sell, and the fans win by being able to re-live a past season just as if it was coming on this Sunday.
