USC Football Recruiting 2018: Top Remaining 2018 Recruits, Class Predictions
USC is expected to be the king of college football recruiting in California every year.
The Trojans already have a strong footprint at home as eight of their current commits hail from California.
That number could surge into double digits if USC brings in all of the marquee targets left on its recruiting wish list on national signing day.
Even if the Trojans miss out on one or two key Californians, they should receive an immediate impact from their latest recruiting class.
Top Remaining Recruits
Olaijah Griffin, DB, Mission Viejo (Mission Viejo, California)
The top unsigned recruit in California could be headed for USC after decommitting from UCLA.
Defensive back Olaijah Griffin, who is the son of rapper Warren G, will decide between the Trojans, Tennessee, Alabama and Oregon on Wednesday.
USC and Tennessee are the favorites for the signature of Griffin after a late push made by the Volunteers and new head coach Jeremy Pruitt to bolster their roster.
If Griffin opts to stay at home in California, he'd complete a sweep of the top three in-state recruits for USC. Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and quarterback J.T. Daniels previously committed to the Trojans.
Issac Taylor-Stuart, DB, Helix (San Diego, California)
USC is more likely to lose defensive back Isaac Taylor-Stuart to the SEC than Griffin.
Tennessee has put in a ton of work on the San Diego native since Pruitt took over, and there's a good chance the fourth-best recruit in California will be heading east.
Alabama is also in the hunt for Taylor-Stuart, but it seems like a long shot given the momentum Tennessee has created in the last month.
Although the Volunteers are an intriguing option, Taylor-Stuart could choose to stay on the west coast with USC and form one of the top defensive back duos with Griffin, which is something that will strike fear in every Pac-12 offense.
Devon Williams, WR, Antelope Valley (Lancaster, California)
USC doesn't need to sign a receiver on Wednesday, but the extra addition of Devon Williams wouldn't be a terrible thing.
With St. Brown already secured, the Trojans can afford to lose Williams to Oregon, but they won't give up easily on the in-state product.
Asserting their dominance at home is key for the Trojans, and if they give Daniels, or whoever starts at quarterback next season, more weapons, it will help ease the loss of Sam Darnold to the NFL.
If USC can't secure the signature of Williams, it will hope for a commitment from Michael Ezeike, who also has Oregon involved in his recruitment.
Solomon Tuliaupupu, LB, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, California)
USC is in line to land three top-level recruits from the same high school as long as linebacker Solomon Tuliaupupu commits on Wednesday.
The top 100 prospect out of Mater Dei in Santa Ana, California, would join high school teammates St. Brown and Daniels at USC if he chooses the Trojans on national signing day.
Tuliaupupu made an official visit to UCLA on January 12 two weeks before he was on the USC campus, and unless something changes overnight, he is expected to don the cardinal and gold next season.
Landing Tuliaupupu would give USC three of the top 10 recruits in California, and that number could be more if it brings in Griffin and/or Taylor-Stuart.
Prediction
One of the main goals for USC is to dominate the in-state recruiting market.
The Trojans won't be able to land every marquee prospect out of California, but securing the best of the best is always vital to the team's success.
Head coach Clay Helton has already made a mark in California with the commitments of St. Brown and Daniels, and he'll continue to control the state with at least two signed players on Wednesday.
In a perfect world, Helton would get Griffin, Taylor-Stuart and Tuliaupupu, but it looks like he's going to miss out on the Tennessee-bound Taylor-Stuart.
