Mesut Ozil Reportedly Snubbed Manchester United, Barcelona, PSG for Arsenal Stay
Mesut Ozil turned down offers from the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain before signing a contract extension with Arsenal.
That's according to German outlet Bild (h/t Mikael McKenzie of the Daily Express). Ozil was able to negotiate pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs in January or strike a deal with United once his contract expired at the end of the season.
The playmaker also rejected lucrative offers from outside of Europe, per Goal's Chris Wheatley:

BBC Sport's David Ornstein reported the details of Ozil's new contract on Wednesday:
Although the club has not officially announced the Germany international's extension, the 29-year-old alluded to it via social media:
After entering a potentially disastrous month in which they could have seen both Ozil and Alexis Sanchez depart, the Gunners ended January in much stronger fashion than anticipated.
Sanchez—who appeared to be the more disruptive influence of the two and whose form had dipped more significantly—joined Manchester United, but the Gunners received Henrikh Mkhitaryan in return, a player likely to prove far more useful than a cut-price transfer fee.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's arrival is also a boon, as the striker brings with him a record of 141 goals in 213 games for Borussia Dortmund, making him one of Europe's most potent goalscorers.
Aubameyang may well thrive with Ozil feeding him ammunition, as the playmaker's creativity is unparalleled, per OptaJoe:
Arsenal's results on the pitch were mixed in January, and while Olivier Giroud's sale to Chelsea for just £18 million is a negative, Ozil's prospective new deal is another much-needed plus point.
Oliver Kay of The Times felt as much but called on the midfielder to kick on now his contract situation is seemingly resolved:
In light of the wages he will reportedly receive, it's Ozil's responsibility to drive Arsenal forward with top performances on the pitch.
He's capable of hitting incredible heights, and if he can do so regularly for the remainder of his time at the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners will reap the benefits.
