Real Madrid Reportedly Planning BBC Overhaul, Neymar, Eden Hazard Targeted

Tom SunderlandJan 17, 2018

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez reportedly wants to replace the club's current BBC front three of Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo with a new lineup comprising Neymar, Eden Hazard and Robert Lewandowski.

Albert Gracia of Catalan newspaper Sport reported Perez is so displeased with the BBC's production rate this season that he's seeking to entirely remodel the club's attacking unit.

Paris Saint-Germain's £200 million man Neymar has been linked with a switch to Real despite his summer move to France, while it would also be difficult to convince Chelsea to part ways with star winger Hazard.

What's more, the Blues talisman is said to be much more interested in the move only if Zinedine Zidane remains at the helm despite a drop-off in results this term, per Simon Johnson of the Evening Standard:

Bayern Munich frontman Lewandowski would be a difficult capture given his constant success at the spear of their attack. He is enjoying another prolific campaign with 21 goals in 26 appearances.

Real's first-choice front three, meanwhile, have been lacking, and Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol hinted a return to Manchester United could offer Ronaldo a route out of his current doldrums:

The Portuguese star has nine goals in six UEFA Champions League games this term but has scored only four times in 14 La Liga appearances, while Benzema has two goals to his name from 12 league outings.

This season is the seventh in succession in which Lewandowski has scored at least 20 goals—he scored 85 over the previous two seasons—and Squawka showed how he continues to reign as the Bundesliga's deadliest striker:

Pulling off a deal to sign Neymar would be a major (and inevitably expensive) coup after he more than doubled the world transfer record with this past summer's move to PSG.

Cadena SER programme El Larguero (h/t AS) recently reported Real would be willing to send Ronaldo to Paris in a bid to get their hands on former Barcelona star Neymar. South American football writer Robbie Blakeley said the decision would be a good one for the Brazilian:

Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema would be sure to attract suitors should they happen to become available, although recruiting one of Neymar, Hazard or Lewandowski would be difficult, never mind signing all three.

Los Blancos are one of the few clubs with the resources to pull off such moves. However, a clinical second half to the campaign could still convince Perez his current lineup deserves more opportunity.
