Norwich City vs. Chelsea: FA Cup 2018 Preview, Live Stream, TV Info

Rory MarsdenJan 4, 2018

Chelsea suffered the disappointment of losing in the final of the 2016-17 FA Cup to Arsenal, and they will be looking to go all the way in the world's oldest football competition this season.

They start their 2017-18 campaign against Championship side Norwich City at Carrow Road in the third round on Saturday.

Blues manager Antonio Conte is likely to select a changed side after a jam-packed Christmas schedule in the Premier League, but Chelsea will still be heavy favourites to progress.

Norwich have an appalling recent record against Chelsea. They last beat the Blues in December 1994 and have drawn just three of the last 13 fixtures in which they have gone winless against the London outfit.

Chelsea's recent record in 2017-18 also makes for tough reading for the Canaries as Conte's side have not been beaten in their last seven fixtures.

The Blues' last outing ended in a 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Wednesday, with Hector Bellerin netting a stoppage-time equaliser that prevented Chelsea moving back to second in the Premier League table.

Norwich, meanwhile, prepared for their third-round clash with the Premier League champions by beating Millwall 2-1 at home.

Norwich City's German head coach Daniel Farke (R) watches as Norwich City's English defender James Husband controls the ball during the English League Cup fourth round football match between Arsenal and Norwich City at The Emirates Stadium in London on Oc

It was a third game unbeaten in a row for head coach Daniel Farke's side and continued a refreshing upturn in form that followed a run of one win in 11 from late October to Boxing Day.

The Canaries will need to produce one of their better performances of the season if they are to send Chelsea crashing out of the FA Cup, though.

Compared to a number of other Premier League sides, Chelsea should be relatively fresh going into the FA Cup weekend.

Over the festive period, they enjoyed a well-paced, if busy, fixture list and the only big-name absentee of late has been David Luiz.

Conte is still likely to rotate, though, and the Italian previously said the Brazil international could be back in contention for the Norwich clash, per Chelsea's Twitter feed:

Striker Michy Batshuayi may also get a rare run-out, particularly as Alvaro Morata was poor against Arsenal, per WhoScored.com:

The third round of the FA Cup produces upsets year after year as smaller sides go up against the Premier League outfits in their first taste of the competition.

Chelsea are not on track to win the league title again this season, but they have been consistent of late, and it does not seem likely they will be victims of a giantkilling against Norwich on Saturday.
