Liverpool Defender Jon Flanagan Arrested on Assault Charges, Released on Bail
Liverpool full-back Jon Flanagan has been arrested and charged with common assault after an altercation in Liverpool city centre on Friday morning.
Flanagan has since been released on bail ahead of an appearance at Liverpool City Magistrates' Court, scheduled for next Tuesday, according to BBC News.
BBC News also relayed an official statement from Liverpool: "The club has been made aware of an alleged incident involving a member of the first-team playing squad. We will be making no further comment on the matter while the process is ongoing with the relevant authorities."

Flanagan made his debut in 2011 when club legend Kenny Dalglish was in charge, but he came to prominence during Brendan Rodgers' time at Anfield. Rodgers used the young full-back often, particularly during the 2013/14 campaign.

Liverpool came up short in a bid to win the Premier League title that season, and Flanagan's stock has tumbled since. A knee injury ruled him out of the following season, before a subsequent operation in April 2015 led to him spending nine more months on the treatment table.
A fit-again Flanagan was loaned to Burnley for 2016/17, but he made just three starts for the Clarets in England's top flight. This season has seen just a solitary appearance in the Carabao Cup as youngsters Joe Gomez, 20, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, 19, have overtaken him in manager Jurgen Klopp's plans.
Flanagan faces a hard task salvaging what was a once-promising career.
