Must-Watch Week 16 Matchups

Falcons at Saints

The NFL couldn't have planned this any better if it tried.

The 9-5 Atlanta Falcons may be in third place in the NFC South and contending for a wild card heading into Week 16, but by the end of the regular season, they could win the division outright.

How? Atlanta faces the 10-4 New Orleans Saints in Week 16 and the 10-4 Carolina Panthers in Week 17.

The Falcons have already defeated the Saints once this season, at home, and now they'll look to get the sweep on the road.

New Orleans is favored by five points in the matchup, largely because it will host at Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Despite the presence of two elite quarterbacks in Matt Ryan and Drew Brees, the outcome of this matchup will likely be determined by the two teams' backfields.

Atlanta's Devonta Freeman hit season highs in rushing yards and receiving yards in Week 15 with 126 and 68, respectively, and New Orleans' Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram have been a deadly 1-2 punch all season.

Rams at Titans

The Los Angeles Rams have held the Seattle Seahawks at bay and remain comfortably atop the NFC West with a 10-4 record. Seattle trails behind at 8-6, due in large part to the Rams' complete beatdown of the Seahawks in Week 15.

Los Angeles sent a powerful statement to its once mighty division opponent in that 42-7 win.

And L.A. controls its own destiny; with a win over the Titans this week, the Rams win the division.

Even if the Rams lose to the Titans, they can still clinch the division if the Seahawks lose to or tie the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, the 8-6 Titans are clinging for dear life to their wild-card hopes.

Even though Tennessee has lost two straight games, it can clinch a playoff spot in Week 16, but a lot of chips need to fall into place.

Not only would the Titans need to defeat the Rams, the Baltimore Ravens would have to fall to the Indianapolis Colts and the Buffalo Bills must lose to the New England Patriots.

The latter is likely; the former, not so much.

Seahawks at Cowboys

Speaking of teams that are duking it out for a wild-card spot, the Seahawks and Cowboys both have their sights set on earning one this weekend.

Heading into their Sunday night matchup, Seattle is the No. 8 seed in the NFC while Dallas is the No. 9.

One thing is clear: The loser of this matchup also loses a shot at making the postseason. To earn a playoff berth, both teams have to win out.

In an interesting twist, if Seattle wins out and the Rams lose, the Seahawks will clinch the NFC West. Though both teams would be 10-6, Seattle owns the tiebreaker.

The Cowboys, meanwhile, have a much trickier path. Philadelphia has clinched the NFC East, so Dallas' only ticket to the postseason is a wild-card berth.

The good news for the Cowboys is they get powerhouse running back Ezekiel Elliott back in Week 16.

Elliott gives the Cowboys the boost they need to best the Seahawks' depleted defense, which is missing safety Kam Chancellor and could be without linebacker Bobby Wagner and defensive end Michael Bennett in Week 16, per the injury report

Odds according to OddsShark and current as of Dec. 21.
