Manchester City Want Pep Guardiola to Create 'Dynasty' at Etihad Stadium
Manchester City want manager Pep Guardiola to build a "dynasty" at the Etihad Stadium but are prepared to wait until the summer to open contract talks with the Spaniard.
According to Oliver Kay in The Times, when Guardiola joined the club in 2016, it was never guaranteed he would stay beyond his three-year contract, but there is "growing optimism" he will now commit for longer.
He only spent four years in charge at Barcelona and then three at Bayern Munich.

Per Kay, though, City are now expecting Guardiola to commit his long-term future to the club, with his close relationships with chief executive Ferran Soriano and director of football Txiki Begiristain a key factor.
David McDonnell of the Mirror reported that the deal City are looking to put in front of Guardiola would be worth £80 million.
In his piece, McDonnell wrote: "The 46-year-old is currently on £15 million a year but can expect to see that figure rise to as much as £20 million—almost £400,000 a week—under the terms of the new deal, which will cement his status as the highest-paid boss in the sport."
The Sky Blues thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 on Saturday to take their winning run in the Premier League to 16 matches on the bounce.
Second-placed Manchester United managed to close the gap on leaders City back to 11 points with their win over West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, but there are many who believe the title is already gone, per BBC Sport:
Guardiola's side have dropped only two points all season and already have a tally that would have seen them finish eighth in the Premier League in 2016-17.
They are well ahead of a number of past teams that have set records in the Premier League era, per bet365:
And given how well City are playing, there is a genuine possibility they could go deep in the UEFA Champions League.
It is little surprise City are eager for Guardiola to stay beyond the end of his current contract in 2019.
The Manchester outfit are likely keen for the the 46-year-old to establish a base for City that would see them dominate the Premier League as United did in the 1990s and 2000s.
It is a daunting prospect for the other sides in the top flight given City are on their way to a record points tally and do not look like being stopped any time soon.
