Preview
While United will be heavy favourites against lower-league opposition, Bristol City are third in England's second tier and should not be taken lightly, particularly given the route they've had to follow to reach the quarter-final stage.
The Robins have knocked out Premier League opponents in each of the last three rounds—Watford, Stoke City and Crystal Palace.
City were impressively clinical in the latter as they came from behind to win 4-1, per BBC Sport:
Remarkably, at the time of their win in October, Bristol City had enjoyed more success against top-flight teams than a number of Premier League clubs, per bwin:
United should provide much sterner opposition, though, even if they will likely name a rotated side as manager Jose Mourinho looks to keep his players fresh ahead of the festive period.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been out of the team recently, so all eyes will be on him if he's given a run-out.
Per BBC Sport's Simon Stone and the Mirror's John Cross, his United future is seemingly hanging in the balance:
There's no doubting the Armenia international is a superb player, but it was initially understandable that he was out of the team as his form had dipped in recent months.
However, that spell on the sidelines has seen him left out of eight of United's last nine matchday squads, and he played just 19 minutes in the other, a 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on November 25.
It's possible there's no way back for Mkhitaryan at Old Trafford, but this would be the perfect match to reintroduce him into the team, as Mourinho will likely want to save his other stars for Saturday's clash with Leicester City.
If Mkhitaryan does get the opportunity to play, he will need to grab it with both hands and showcase his quality at Ashton Gate.
