Oregon Scores 2 Defensive Touchdowns to Close Out 1st Half in Las Vegas Bowl
The Boise State Broncos were dominating the Oregon Ducks in every phase during the first half of the Las Vegas Bowl on Saturday afternoon, but that started to fall apart in the final moments of the second quarter at Sam Boyd Stadium.
With under a minute remaining in the frame, Boise State held a 24-0 lead and had the ball on Oregon's 10-yard line. That's when Ducks linebacker Troy Dye returned a fumble the distance to help close the gap to 24-7.
The Broncos then tried to march down the field and tack on another quick score. However, quarterback Brett Rypien threw a pass right into the arms of Oregon safety Tyree Robinson, who took it 100 yards for another defensive touchdown.
Boise State outgained Oregon 294-77 in the half and didn't allow the Ducks offense to cross midfield. Yet Oregon remained in the contest, trailing 24-14 as the teams headed to the locker room.
