Carolina Panthers' Devin Funchess Delivers on Promise to Score for Late Soldier
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Devin Funchess had extra motivation during the team's Monday night "Salute to Service" game against the Miami Dolphins.
Funchess promised a touchdown to the mother of Sgt. Dillon Baldridge, who died five months ago. He doubled up on the commitment, recording two scores against the Dolphins.
"I told Dillon's mom that I was going to get in the end zone for her," Funchess said, according to Max Henson of the team's official website. "That's what I did. I made sure she got the first touchdown [ball]."

It's an honorable gesture on Funchess' behalf. He also wore the deceased soldier's initials on his helmet during the contest.
The Panthers blew out the Dolphins 45-21, but the 23-year-old wideout accomplished something that meant way more than a tally in the win column.
