UFL Draws Attention and Losman Blows
Even though Trent Edwards doesn't look exactly like Peyton Manning right now I can see why he was their #1 choice after seeing J.P. Losman tonight. You'd think with multiple NFL starts under his belt and a rocket for an arm that J.P. Losman would just be a ringer in the UFL, wrong! The guy was horrible! He held onto the ball longer than Big Ben of the Steelers and made Byron Leftwich's delivery look faster than the speed of light. I am dumbfounded because when I was scrolling through my Comcast guide I would have thought when I saw the matchup of the 2 QB's, Losman and Brooks Bollinger, it was heavy in favor of the former Bill. Absolutely not! Yes he had pressure in his face, but come on you saw it come faster in the NFL and with the best players you can't tell me that you weren't prepared for that. You are use to guys like DeMarcus Ware and Jared Allen in your face on a regular basis, but you let Claude Wroten and Darrion Scott sack you and toss you around. It was a pathetic showing for a former NFL QB and it raises the question, can I play QB in the NFL if this guy did? I know we make fun of Tebow for his Randy Johnson style wind up delivery, but I am sure Tim Tebow could embarrass J.P. Losman in a QB competition.
All in all, my first UFL game was quite fun it is good to see a place for some of these 30+ year old running backs, former stars of HBO's NFL HardKnocks like Dede Dorsey, and a bunch of has beens like Jerome Carter to continue to live their dream. I look forward to the expansion of this league and my suggestion is don't move these teams to cities where NFL teams already dominate move them to cities like Los Angeles, Memphis, Louisville, Sacramento, Milwaukee, Austin, Little Rock, San Antonio, Portland, Oklahoma City, and Toronto. I thuroughly enjoyed it and honestly it could merge with the NFL to be somewhat of a minor leagues like the NHL and MLB have or like a D-league like the NBA. Instead of our favorite college legends disappearing never to be heard of how about giving guys a chance to live their dream and shine somewhere else? How cool would it be to see people like Charlie Ward, Tommy Fraizer, or Ron Dayne continue to live their dream?
