Kansas found its point guard of the near future Wednesday, as Quentin Grimes committed to play for the Jayhawks beginning in 2018, according to Rivals.com's Jayhawk Slant.
247Sports' composite rankings lists Grimes as a 5-star recruit, as well as the No. 16 overall player and the No. 2 combo guard in his class.

Grimes is a fairly big point guard at 6'5" and 200 pounds, and that size has aided him in making waves at The Woodlands College Park High School in The Woodlands, Texas.
He boasts a diverse, two-way skill set that resulted in the likes of Kansas, Arizona, Baylor and Texas being among the major programs to offer him scholarships.
Krysten Peek of Rivals.com posted the following highlight video of Grimes on Twitter, which shows his ability to contribute in multiple areas at both ends of the floor:
While Grimes excels at getting to the rim and throwing down monster dunks, he believes his attention to detail helps set him apart, according to Andrew Slater of 247Sports.
"I just try to do little things, just the little details, like diving for a loose ball, and working hard on defense, so those are little things that stand out," he said. "Everybody can jump and shoot, but it's the little things that separate you."
In addition to starring for his high school team, Grimes opened some eyes while playing in the Adidas Gauntlet Finale, especially during a July 14 game when he dropped 41 points with representatives from several top programs in attendance.
Lighting it up against other top prospects in the 2018 class went a long way toward establishing Grimes as one of the best all-around recruits in the country.
The state of Texas is Big 12 country, and there is no arguing against the fact that Kansas has been the premier team in the Big 12 for the past several years.
While several Texas-based schools attempted to make a run at Grimes, the Jayhawks and head coach Bill Self managed to continue growing their empire by securing a commitment.
With Kansas looking for a successor to guard Frank Mason III, Grimes should have every opportunity to play big minutes immediately and earn that spot.
