Former Titans RB Antonio Andrews Reaches Plea Deal on Assault Charges
Former Tennessee Titans running back Antonio Andrews pleaded guilty to an assault charge Thursday as part of a plea deal after punching a man who allegedly used a racial slur.
According to Stacey Barchenger of the Tennessean, Andrews will serve six months' probation for the assault charge, which will be expunged if he completes the program successfully.
Andrews, 25, punched a man twice and broke his jaw at a Nashville pizza shop in March. The man, David McDill, allegedly used a racial slur in reference to an employee of the restaurant. Andrews will pay McDill's medical bills, totaling more than $10,000, as part of the plea agreement.

Andrews' lawyer Rob McKinney said they could have argued Andrews acted in self-defense, but noted his reaction may not have been appropriate either way.
"What are fighting words?" McKinney said, per Barchenger. "If you're African American and somebody uses the n-word to you, what does that mean to you? ... When is bullying ever OK? It might have been justified under self-defense, but that kind of behavior should not be condoned."
Andrews played the last three seasons for the Titans. He recorded just two carries for 15 yards last season, with DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry receiving a majority of work at running back.
