Pacquiao vs. Horn Odds, Projected Winner and Prize Money Purse
Manny Pacquiao will be the clear favorite to win when he enters the ring this Sunday to defend his WBO welterweight title against Jeff Horn.
The Filipino slugger currently sports odds of -600 (meaning fans would have to bet $600 dollars for a $100 win) while his opponent checks in at +400 (win $400 with a $100 bet), per OddsShark.
The veteran's perceived superiority over his opponent isn't just expressed in the latest odds―as reported by Grantlee Kieza of the Courier Mail, he's set to make $10 million from the bout, compared to just $500,000 for Horn. Ticket sales could still boost those numbers.
Per Rappler's Ryan Songalia, event organisers are expecting close to a full house in Brisbane, Australia:
Horn enters the fight with an unbeaten record (16 wins, one draw) but few marquee names on his resume. His latest bout was a win over Ali Funeka, a veteran journeyman who managed to knock down the Queensland native and opened up a pretty serious cut over his eye.
The 29-year-old is a relative unknown even among hardcore fans of the sport. ESPN's Stephen A. Smith couldn't even get his name right when he interviewed promoter Bob Arum during a recent edition of First Take, repeatedly calling him “Joe Horn:”
Horn has flashed some solid footwork and hand speed in open workouts ahead of the bout, but his fighting form tends to go out of the window the moment he gets hit in a fight. That's a dangerous tendency against a fighter of Pacquiao's caliber.
At the age of 38, Pac-Man is no longer the fearsome whirlwind fans paid big money to watch during his prime. His raw power vanished years ago―he hasn't stopped anyone since a TKO win over Miguel Cotto in 2009.
But his fundamentals are still there, and Pacquiao has become a smarter fighter in the twilight of his career. His win over Jessie Vargas was a prime example―after a blistering start and an early knockdown, he wisely paced himself during the latter rounds to earn a one-sided decision win.

Some fans and pundits frowned when Chris Algieri got his chance against Pacquaio in 2014, as the former kickboxer didn't appear to have the resume to warrant such a fight. He was coming off an impressive win over Ruslan Provodnikov, however―Horn doesn't even have such a win on his record.
The Australian will have the Brisbane crowd on his side, but he's never fought in front of such a large audience and will have to overcome his nerves. Even if he does, it's hard to see any scenario in which Horn beats the experienced Pacquiao.
The Filipino can get hit but has just a single loss by stoppage since the turn of the century. Horn has talent, but he doesn't hit as hard as Juan Manuel Marquez. If he did, he would already be a star.
Prediction: Pacquiao by unanimous decision.
