Spain vs. Italy: European U21 Championship Live Stream, Schedule, Prediction

James DudkoJun 25, 2017

Spain face Italy in the semi-final of the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship at the Krakow Stadium in Poland on Tuesday.

This is a rematch of the 2013 final and Spain will be fancied to win again thanks to perhaps the deepest and most talented squad at the tournament.

However, the ‎Azzurrini are no slouches themselves. They possess a host of gifted players, including forwards Domenico Berardi and Federico Bernardeschi.

No team left in the competition can match the depth of talent Spain boast. Typically, the squad is most loaded in midfield, where there are ample amounts of creativity, technique and vision.

The star of the show is Atletico Madrid workhorse Saul Niguez. He is a dynamic, box-to-box ace who knows where the goal is.

When Niguez is combined with Real Madrid prospect Marco Asensio, Spain have awesome scoring potential from midfield.

Asensio and Niguez need supply, though, putting the onus on Barcelona schemer Denis Suarez to deliver. The 23-year-old is a gifted pass-and-move playmaker, who struggled somewhat at club level this season.

Yet, the real test could await the Spanish defence in Krakow. Containing Sassuolo star Berardi is a tough ask for any back four, as is keeping Fiorentina's Bernardeschi in check.

Both players possess the pace and movement to get in behind on a regular basis. If this pair clicks, Italy can spring the upset.

Bernardeschi poses the main threat for Italy.

Yet it's more likely Spain's quality on the ball will steadily overwhelm the‎ Azzurrini.

Prediction: Spain 3-1 Italy
