Eric Bledsoe, Emmanuel Mudiay Trade Reportedly Being Discussed by Suns, Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets are reportedly shopping Emmanuel Mudiay and the No. 13 pick in the lead-up to Thursday's NBA draft.
According to Chris Haynes of ESPN, Denver is discussing a trade that would send Mudiay and the pick to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Eric Bledsoe. Haynes called the discussions "fluid."
Bledsoe posted a rather cryptic tweet Thursday as well:
The Nuggets appear to be aggressors this offseason after they missed the playoffs the last four seasons. This news comes after Jeff Goodman of ESPN.com reported they discussed acquiring Jimmy Butler in a trade with the Chicago Bulls.
Butler or Bledsoe would give Denver someone who could serve as a perimeter force with Nikola Jokic in the middle.
When healthy, Bledsoe has star potential. He averaged career-best totals of 21.1 points and 6.3 assists a night in 2016-17 after he posted 20.4 points and 6.1 assists per game in 2015-16. However, he played just 97 games the last two seasons.
From Phoenix's perspective, Bledsoe is 27 years old while Mudiay is just 21. The No. 7 overall pick of the 2015 draft has shot just 36.9 percent from the field in his first two seasons but is explosive in the open floor and would give the Suns a younger piece to build around after seven straight seasons of missing the playoffs.
