College World Series 2017: TV, Live-Stream Schedule and Game Times for Thursday

David McCrackenJun 22, 2017

There is only one matchup Thursday night at the 2017 College World Series as the Horned Frogs of TCU will take on the Cardinals of Louisville in a highly anticipated fixture to see who will advance to take on Florida on Friday.

TCU is coming off a convincing 4-1 victory over Texas A&M, while Louisville is looking to rally after getting blown out by Florida 5-1 on Tuesday.

With a win tonight, the Cardinals will have the opportunity to exact revenge on the Gators in the next round, but that's a lot easier said than done as they have to get past the likes of TCU, who are also looking for a rematch with the Gators after a 3-0 loss last Sunday.

The Cardinals are up against the wall heading into tonight's game against TCU as they will be eliminated with a loss to the Horned Frogs. TCU are in the same boat as they have to win to set up a rematch against Florida on Friday, but at least the Horned Frogs have history on their side.

Tonight will mark the 17th time that these two teams have played against one another and in the previous 16 fixtures, and TCU has the 11-5 edge in the series. While the two teams haven't played since the 2005 season, the Horned Frogs are 6-2 against Louisville under the tutelage of head coach John Schlossnagle.

Before getting shutout 3-0 to Florida last Sunday, TCU's offense was on a roll, scoring 40 runs during a five-game span, including a 15-3 beatdown on Dallas Baptist and an 8-1 rout of Missouri State.

The Cardinals were also a team that was streaking before falling to Florida, winning six straight games, including back-to-back outings where Louisville scored 22 runs in an 11-6 win over Radford and an 11-1 victory over Oklahoma earlier this month.

TCU is coming into tonight's game riding high after an impressive performance against the Aggies, where Brian "Big Game Howie" Howard delivered for the Horned Frogs yet again with a scintillating performance, as acknowledged by the team's official Twitter account:

The 6'9" inch ace gave TCU the lift it needed when it mattered most, but the Horned Frogs will have to rely on the rest of their bullpen against the Cardinals, who will be looking for better offense than they showed against the Gators, as they registered just seven hits on 34 at bats scoring one run.

For one team, a win on Thursday sets up an eagerly awaited rematch against Florida, while the hopes of a College World Series for the losing side will be dashed. All it takes is one big play to make the difference in what looks to be a high scoring affair between two teams looking to keep their seasons alive.
