Nomar Mazara Becomes 3rd-Youngest Texas Rangers Player to Hit 30 Homers
Texas Rangers outfielder Nomar Mazara cranked a solo home run on the first pitch of his fifth-inning at-bat Tuesday against Toronto Blue Jays starter Francisco Liriano. In doing so, the power-hitting lefty became the third-youngest player in franchise history to reach 30 career homers, per the Elias Sports Bureau (via ESPN).
The 22-year-old Dominican spent received his first-ever taste of the big leagues April 10 of last season and responded by going 3-for-4 with his first major league home run. Although he struggled down the stretch and in the postseason, Mazara finished his rookie campaign with a solid .266/.320/.419 batting line and 20 home runs.

He's continued to display that power potential in his sophomore season, collecting 10 home runs through 65 games this year while upping his batting average to .279 thus far. If he can continue that pace over the course of the season, Mazara could have a shot at reaching mid to upper 20s for home runs on the year.
Unfortunately, Mazara's continued success hasn't led to the same for the Rangers. Through 70 contests this season, the club sits at the .500 mark at 35-35. The Rangers have turned it around a bit recently, going 7-3 in their last 10 games.
The Rangers have split the first two games of the four-game series with the Blue Jays on Monday and Tuesday but will attempt to uneven the series with a victory in the third installment Wednesday evening.
