College World Series 2017: TV, Live-Stream Schedule and Game Times for Wednesday

Florida State doesn't have to wait long to get revenge against LSU.

LSU-Florida State is the only game on tap Wednesday at the 2017 College World Series. If this second matchup is anything as thrilling and bizarre as the first, baseball fans won't mind that it's the only game in town that day.

The Tigers came back to beat the Seminoles on Saturday night at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha by a score of 5-4, but in a wholly unconventional manner. More on that later.

The elimination matchup will see the winner go on to face Oregon State on Friday, while the loser will be sent packing from Omaha.

Per The Advocate's Luke Johnson, LSU will trot out lefty Jared Poche (11-3, 3.33 ERA) to start against one of two Florida State righthanders: Andrew Karp (2-3, 4.87 ERA) or Cole Sands (6-3, 5.05 ERA).

Here's how to watch the game:

The Tigers are on the brink in this double-elimination tournament after a 13-1 demolition loss at the hands of Oregon State. The Seminoles are still alive courtesy of a 6-4 win over Cal State Fullerton, a game that saw Florida State put together its own rally with a three-run seventh inning after going down 4-3.

The 'Noles come-from-behind antics will have them on a high note coming into this game, whereas LSU has to quickly regroup after their drubbing.

Make no mistake, the Tigers will need to be focused and disciplined at the plate, as they can hardly count on scoring runs in the manner they did against FSU on Saturday.

In that contest, the Tigers were aided by a dreadful late string of errors on the Seminoles' part and a strange run in the first inning. SECCountry.com's Nick Suss had a nice summary:

"In the LSU baseball team's 5-4 comeback victory over Florida State Saturday night, the Tigers plated two runners from first in equally bizarre circumstances. In the first inning, left fielder Antoine Duplantis scored from first on a two-out strikeout, turning a stolen base attempt on a dropped third strike into three bags and a run. Then, in the eighth inning, Duplantis singled with second baseman Cole Freeman standing on first, and three Florida State errors led to Freeman sliding into home safely to tie the game at 4-4."

So, two of their five runs materialized on weird plays without runners in scoring position, and they scored just once against the Beavers. They will likely have to be better in the batter's box to beat Florida State, as their opponent has turned getting runners on base into a brutal art form.

The Seminoles love drawing walks, garnering five free passes against LSU and eight more against Fullerton. LSU coach Paul Mainieri is aware of the challenge his starter, Poche, faces.

"The biggest concern I have playing Florida State is how many walks they draw," he said per the Times-Picayune's Christopher Dabe. "It's an ugly brand of ball when teams are going up there looking for walks. I know fans don't like that and I certainly don't like it. But Poche's got to adjust and he's got to throw the ball in the strike zone."

Poche didn't give up a walk in 2.2 innings of scoreless relief against Florida State on Saturday, but Dabe noted that he struggled with free passes in an earlier start: "After two shutout innings in a Super Regional game against Mississippi State, Poche walked four of the first six hitters he faced in the third. Poche also surrendered a two-run home run during that stretch."

The Seminoles will be looking for the kinds of opportunities they allowed with brutal gaffes against the Tigers, and that starts with getting runners on.

The Tigers know they must do a better job of hitting, and they should have the opportunity to do so against either Karp or Sands, neither of whom have intimidating stat lines.

In an elimination game, this contest could be another close one that comes down to whichever team is better able to manufacture runs in adverse circumstances. Florida State has five extra-base hits in their past two games, while LSU has just two, both home runs.

A combination of singles, walks, steals and maybe some more luck could be the path to winning for either team.
