Chelsea Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Lorenzo Insigne and John Terry
Chelsea will have to pay more than £45 million to sign Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne, according to the player's agent. Insigne is on the Blues' radar but may prefer to stay in Naples, per his representative.
The Premier League champions had been linked with a move worth £45 million for the creative and prolific Italy international, per Rob Maul of The Sun. However, Insigne's agent, Franco della Monica, told Italian outlet Radio Kiss Kiss (h/t Jack Austin of The Independent) Chelsea would need to pay more: "I would start by saying the offer reported in The Sun would be low, and he has always been in the sights of many clubs."

Significantly, Della Monica also suggested Insigne may be happy to remain at Napoli: "The priority for Lorenzo, though, is to be wearing the Napoli shirt and to be rewarded in an important way by his team. Now he has both and he is happy as well."
Chelsea should do all they can to test Insigne's resolve to continue playing in Serie A, though. The 26-year-old is one of the brightest attacking talents in the game.
Insigne combines pace with intelligent movement and quality technique. The latter trait is best shown by his creative output as a goal provider since 2015, where he is beaten only by a Napoli team-mate, per WhoScored.com:
Aside from creating goals, Insigne also enjoyed one of his best campaigns in front of goal last season. He scored 20 goals in all competitions at club level, per WhoScored.com.
Insigne would fit in well at Chelsea, where he would give manager Antonio Conte another option for the wide roles in his fluid front three. He would be an upgrade over Willian and a more complete player than Pedro.
Conte is reportedly unhappy with the Chelsea board for taking time over transfer moves so far, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Metro): "The report also claims that the tension is mutual between Conte and Chelsea as the club are not pleased with the manager's handling of Diego Costa after the striker was told by text message that he has no future at Stamford Bridge."

Bidding what it takes to wrap up a deal for Insigne would be an ideal way for Conte and the Chelsea hierarchy to iron out any differences, while strengthening an already deadly attack ahead of defending the Premier League title next season.
Ex-Skipper Made Offer by Birmingham
Departed Chelsea captain John Terry has been offered a contract by Championship side Birmingham City. The club's manager, Harry Redknapp, confirmed a deal has been presented to the 36-year-old during an interview with talkSPORT (h/t BBC Sport): "We've made him a good offer and we have done the best we can. It's up to John now, but we would love him at Birmingham."
It's no surprise Redknapp wants to sign Terry. The well-travelled manager has often signed many experienced players who are close to the end of their careers on free transfers.
Terry's savvy would no doubt prove briefly invaluable to any team attempting to leave English football's second tier and reach the Premier League. However, the former Chelsea skipper may believe he still has enough left to remain in the top flight.

What is clear is Terry won't be at Chelsea next season, despite his exit harming the club's depth behind their back three. Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Cesar Azpilicueta form a quality starting trio, but only youngsters Kurt Zouma and Nathan Ake are available for cover.
Terry's know-how and leadership could be missed next season, especially with Chelsea back in the UEFA Champions League and facing extra games.
A more congested fixture list is one reason why bolstering the attacking options also makes sense, with Insigne a worthy target for a big-money move.
