Marco Verratti's Future Is 'Very Complicated' Amid Barcelona Rumours, Says Agent
Marco Verratti's position at Paris Saint-Germain is "very complicated," according to the player's agent. The Italian is subject to reported interest from Barcelona as they search for the heir to Andres Iniesta.
Despite PSG telling Marca their midfield general is "not for sale," Verratti's agent refused to rule out an exit when quizzed on his client's future by Sky Sport Italia (h/t ESPN FC's Ben Gladwell):
"We'll have to see, it's very complicated but we have informed PSG of our ideas," Donato Di Campli said. "It's nothing to do with Barcelona—it's about projects. I feel that I am managing a champion and champions need to win, so I am asking questions that I think anybody in my position would."

"Many clubs try to sign players who are already under contract elsewhere, even those who have signed long-term contracts. This is how football is, and we need to accept it. If PSG do not want to sell him despite having offers from all over Europe, then we would just have to take that on board."
According to Gladwell, Verratti is considering his place at the Parc des Princes after PSG lost out to AS Monaco in the Ligue 1 title race and were once again knocked out of the UEFA Champions League in the early stages.
Iniesta, 33, is one of the last remaining members of Barcelona's "old guard," but OptaJean recently provided passing evidence to suggest Verratti could hold a candle to the veteran's legacy if he were to move:
Gladwell also provided quotes from a senior PSG spokesman, who reportedly said that even €100 million (£88.2 million) wouldn't prise the player away, "because Verratti is not for sale."
It's a difficult deal for Barcelona to pull off considering PSG are one of the few teams out there who don't desperately need the money they could make from a transfer, not to mention the fact Verratti has four years left on his deal.
One thing for certain is former Pescara man Verratti will not be moving back to Serie A anytime soon. When asked if a move back to Italy was on the cards, Di Campli said: "That's too complicated for the finances of [Italian] clubs."
The storyline might change in the event Verratti begins to push for the Parc des Princes exit, but GianlucaDiMarzio.com's David Amoyal recently suggested PSG are well-backed in their bid to keep hold of his services:
The 24-year-old isn't likely to be the only player at PSG who wants to compete for European silverware, and their round-of-16 collapse against Barca this past season served as another reminder they're off the pace of the top teams.
Rather than beat them, Verratti may have decided to join them, although PSG appear to be doing all in their power to ensure that isn't the case.
