Cam Newton Won't Throw at Minicamp While Recovering from Rotator Cuff Surgery
The Carolina Panthers announced Monday quarterback Cam Newton will not throw during the team's mandatory three-day minicamp this week as he continues to recover from surgery on his partially torn rotator cuff.
"It's doing all right," Newton said of his shoulder after a charity kickball game on June 9, according to ESPN.com's David Newton. "You know, for people who will be looking at this and saying his shoulder is 100 percent, throwing underhand is a natural throwing motion.
"I can't really throw yet, overhand, but underhand everything is A-OK."

Newton—who had surgery March 30—is on track to resume throwing June 22, per Bill Voth of the team's official website.
Dating back to March, the Panthers' plan has called for Newton to start throwing 12 weeks after the procedure.
"Twelve weeks following surgery, Cam will begin an early throwing program with me," head athletic trainer Ryan Vermillion said, according to Panthers.com's Max Henson. "If he progresses well he will start throwing with the team at 16 weeks after surgery and we’ll go from there. Our goal is to have him back at the start of training camp."
