Draymond Green Doesn't Regret Saying Cavaliers Fans Aren't 'The Sharpest People'

Tyler ConwayJun 11, 2017

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green said he does not regret his remarks about Cleveland Cavaliers fans made after Friday's Game 4 loss.

"Absolutely not. Because everything I say, I know what I'm saying," Green said at a media session at Sunday's practice. "When I say something, I've thought about what I'm going to say before I say it. I never look at something and say 'Man, I shouldn't have said that.'

"Because I'm a lot smarter than people think. When I say something, I've already thought about what I was going to say. So absolutely not."

Green drew loud jeers after receiving a technical foul in the second half of Cleveland's 137-116 win Friday night. Nearly everyone believed Green had been ejected because of an error on the official box score, which gave him a first-quarter technical that was actually issued to Warriors coach Steve Kerr.

The All-Star forward said after the game that he knew the first technical was not his. He then threw a barb in the direction of Cleveland fans.

“I don’t pay much attention to people in Cleveland, honestly,” Green told reporters. “They don’t seem to be the sharpest people around.”

Green, however, balked at the notion he "bashed" fans at Sunday's media session.

"They played 'Hit The Road Jack' and I didn't have to hit the road, so I didn't think that was that sharp," Green said.

Green is averaging 11.3 points, 9.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game in the Finals but has struggled with his shot. He's hitting just 35.6 percent of his field-goal attempts overall and has knocked down just five of 20 shots from deep.

With any luck, Green and the Warriors will avoid having to return to Cleveland with a win in Game 5 on Monday.
