Golden State Warriors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Game 4 Odds, NBA Betting Pick
The Golden State Warriors will try to capture their second Larry O'Brien Trophy on the road in three years when they visit the Cleveland Cavaliers as big chalk for Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Friday.
The Warriors will also be attempting to complete the first-ever perfect playoff run after going 15-0 straight up and 11-4 against the spread so far in the postseason.
Point spread: The Cavaliers opened as two-point favorites; the total is at 228.5, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark. (Line updates and matchup report)
NBA betting pick, via OddsShark computer: 117.4-108.7, Warriors (NBA picks on every game)
Why the Warriors can cover the spread
Golden State has now covered the spread in six straight postseason games after rallying back for a 118-113 victory in Game 3 as a 3.5-point road favorite at Cleveland on Wednesday. The Warriors trailed the Cavs 113-107 until Stephen Curry hit a shot with 2:18 remaining to start their 11-0 game-ending run.
This was the game they should have probably lost, but they still managed to prevail—and cover the spread in the process. Golden State should also expect to take Cleveland's best shot again in Game 4, but the mentality of the defending champs has to be fragile at best right now.
Why the Cavaliers can cover the spread
The Cavs have nothing and everything to lose in what could be the series clincher for the Warriors. They know that no NBA team has ever rallied back to win a series after losing the first three games, yet they also looked beaten a year ago when they rallied back from a 3-1 deficit to win their first league title.
You can make the argument that Golden State faces more pressure to sweep despite playing on the road, too. Regardless, this is a big game for the legacy of LeBron James, who does not want to get swept for the second time in the NBA Finals and fall to 3-5 in championship series.
Smart betting pick
While the Warriors have virtually already been crowned champs again statistically speaking, beating the spread in this scenario will not be easy. Cleveland is playing for pride here and does not want to go out losing the NBA Finals at home for the second time in three years, either.
The Cavs still have the league's best player in James, who will have another opportunity to prove that fact in front of his fans and the world. Golden State winning the title may be inevitable, but Cleveland will at least cover the spread.
