The allegations of domestic violence against Russell stem from a since-deleted Instagram post made by his wife, Melisa, in which she suggested the couple was breaking up after one year of marriage, per Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Comcast SportsNet's Patrick Mooney reported Major League Baseball is currently in the "fact-finding stage" of the allegations per CBA rules under the domestic violence policy.
