Mike Williams 'Getting Behind' at Chargers OTAs Due to Back Injury
The Los Angeles Chargers are hoping for early contributions from first-round pick Mike Williams next season, but a back injury isn't helping.
"Like I said before, he's getting behind," head coach Anthony Lynn said of the receiver, per Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times. "But the most important thing right now is to get him healthy, and get him back on the football field. But I know he can help us win football games down the road."
A mild disc herniation in his lower back has caused Williams to miss all of the organized team activities and he reportedly won't be able to participate until training camp at the earliest.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Williams was the seventh overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft after a big year at Clemson where he caught 98 passes for 1,361 yards. The 6'4" target was expected to help a receiving corps that has seen plenty of injuries over the past few years.
Unfortunately, the latest issue will keep him from getting comfortable with his new team.
"It's just understanding Philip [Rivers], understanding the offense and trying to get the confidence before training camp," receiver Keenan Allen explained.
Allen has only appeared in nine games over the last two seasons due to injury.
While there is still plenty of time for Williams to get healthy and learn the offense, this missed time could limit the immediate contributions of the Rookie of the Year candidate.
