In the Corvallis Super Regional, played at Oregon State, the Beavers will take on Vanderbilt in a best-of-three series scheduled to kick off at 9 p.m. on ESPN2.
Oregon State advanced with an 8-1 win over Yale after clinching its first NCAA regional title since 2013.
Bulldogs coach John Stuper had nothing but praise for the team that beat his, predicting that the Beavers would make it all the way to the biggest stage in college baseball:
"It's so clear to me that Pat recruits and nurtures high character kids," Stuper said, per Danny Moran of OregonLive. "I think they're destined for Omaha."
Speaking of destiny, Louisville controlled its own heading into elimination play and defeated Xavier to advance to its fifth straight Super Regional.
It's the end of an era for the Cardinals' Brendan McKay, one of college baseball's premier players who will enter the draft later this year. McKay is near the top of the ACC in strikeouts and wins as a pitcher and in home runs and RBI as a hitter, per the Courier-Journal.
But a stop in Omaha first would be the cherry on top of an incredible college career.
"We’re all hoping, but not just for him," said Cardinals coach Dan McDonnell, per Mike Lopresti of NCAA.com. "You want all those juniors to get there, because you know they’re going to cross the line into pro ball here soon."
