A place in the final of the 2017 Under-20 FIFA World Cup will be on the line when England take on Italy on Thursday at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium in South Korea.

Italy made it through to the semi-finals after a dramatic 3-2 win against Zambia in the last eight which saw the Azzurri equalise late on in normal time before Luca Vido netted an extra-time winner.

Meanwhile, England clung on against Mexico to win 1-0 following Dominic Solanke's goal just after half-time.

As noted by George Elek in the Evening Standard, the Young Lions will be out for revenge on Thursday as a number of the team were knocked out by Italy last year in the semi-finals of the UEFA European Under-19 Championship.

Of the two sides, England have the better record so far in the South Korea tournament.

They have won four matches, all in normal time, and drawn once, while Italy have lost a game, drawn one, and won three, one of which went to extra time.

England have also conceded fewer goals than the Italians—just two in five compared to six in five—but have netted one fewer.

It should be a very balanced contest on Thursday, and it will likely come down to which side can best take their chances.

England have the defensive qualities to limit Italy's opportunities but need to make the best of what they carve out for themselves.

Against Mexico in the last eight England were wasteful early on, but they came through thanks to Solanke's smart finish after collecting a fine ball from Lewis Cook.

They have the creativity to be similarly impactful against the Italians but will be looking to get an early goal to settle the nerves.

Riccardo Orsolini has netted four goals so far in the tournament, one in each of Italy's last four matches, and will be the danger man for the Azzurri.

Fine margins will decide the match in Jeonju and nerves will abound with a final place up for grabs.
