All eyes on Christian Coleman

EUGENE, OR - JULY 03: Justin Gatlin runs to victory ahead of Christian Coleman in the Men's 100 Meter Final during the 2016 U.S. Olympic Track & Field Team Trials at Hayward Field on July 3, 2016 in Eugene, Oregon. (Photo by Andy Lyons/Getty Images)

The name Christian Coleman may not ring a bell at first, but it will when you remember he was the track and field star from Tennessee who famously ran the 40-yard dash in 4.12 seconds shortly after the NFL Combine concluded.

Coleman, a junior, is far and away the fastest sprinter at the collegiate level. At the NCAA Indoor Championships in March, the 21-year-old breezed through the competition, winning the 200-meter race in record style.

Forget his 40 time, forget his impressive 200-meter sprint, though. Coleman hasn't lost a single race all season, and after a dominant showing in March, he has all the momentum to repeat as the outdoor champion.

After participating in the Olympics last year, the sky is the limit for Coleman, who will look to add to his already-stellar collegiate track and field resume as one of the best sprinters in NCAA history.

Oregon women's team sets pace

The University of Oregon women's team are not messing around heading into this year's outdoor championships, as they sit atop of the pack with 344.74 points, ahead of second-place Arkansas with 281.91 points.

The Ducks aren't just a talented squad from top to bottom, they also have some elite talent on the track in Deajah Stevens, who won the Pac-12 titles in the 100- and 200-meter races last month.

Stevens owns the fourth-fastest times in the world this season in the 100 (11 seconds) and 200 (22.09 seconds), which are school records, according to the Register-Guard

But Stevens hasn't just caught the attention of her opposition on the track, as she has been recognized for her accomplishments by being named the West Region's women's track athlete of the year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Stevens will look to solidify her position as one of the nation's top sprinters in the coming days and prove she can take her form to the next level as she did a year ago when she finished second in the 2016 U.S. Olympic trials.
