Brad Keselowski Says Kyle Busch's Anger Doesn't Indicate Desire to Win
Brad Keselowski was critical of Kyle Busch on Saturday after the latter's actions following last weekend's Coca-Cola 600.
Busch expressed anger during post-race interviews on the heels of his second-place finish, and Keselowski said Saturday that it didn't necessarily reflect positively on his rival in terms of his desire to win, according to ESPN.com's Bob Pockrass:
"The way you guys [in the media] portray it is the hunger to win. There's some real funny balances in life, especially in this motorsports world, but your desire to win is not connected to how angry or any of those type of pieces in my mind.
"That's one way of expressing it, but it's not the only way. When people go out and write articles or the media comes out and says that that's a reflection of him having the most desire to win, it makes me want to throw up."
Keselowski also expressed his belief that Busch set a bad example.
"Not only is that a terrible message to send to anyone who is aspiring to be part of the sport," he said, "that's a terrible message to send to anyone in general in this world—that that is a reflection over your desire to win."
When asked about the way he acted, Busch said Friday that it's simply the way he is wired, per Pockrass:
"Certainly, different people show their emotion in different ways, and unfortunately for me, mine has never been very gracious, and I don't know that it ever will be. ... It's genetic. I'm sorry. That's just who I am.
"That's what I was given. If there was anyone to blame, it's probably the guy upstairs. I can probably get better and go to training and classes and everything else, but I don't know. It is the way it is."
The 32-year-old Busch is a 38-time race winner in the NASCAR Cup Series, and he won the points championship in 2015.
Busch is enjoying another strong season in 2017, as he is fifth in the standings.
The veteran has yet to lock himself into the playoffs with a win, however, and the Coca-Cola 600 represented his best chance so far in this campaign.
