Arsenal Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Lucas Perez and Henry Onyekuru

Gianni VerschuerenJun 2, 2017

Arsenal have reportedly set the price tag for Lucas Perez at £13 million, as the Gunners are willing to sell the Spaniard for a loss just one year after he arrived at the Emirates Stadium. Meanwhile, the transfer of Henry Onyekuru has hit a snag, and the Gunners will have to increase their offer to complete the deal.

According to The Independent's Ed Malyon, the reported price tag of £13 million for Perez would present a £4 million loss on the club's initial investment. While there are Premier League clubs interested, the forward prefers a return to Spain.

Per Mark Mann-Bryans of the Press Association, the 28-year-old has made it clear he has no intention of staying:

Perez moved to north London last summer, and while there was some scepticism surrounding his arrival from the fans―most had never even heard of the Deportivo La Coruna man―his strong form in La Liga and promising highlight reels had many hoping for the best.

But over the course of the 2016-17 campaign, Perez barely saw the pitch. When he did play, he showed plenty of promise―he scored three goals in the UEFA Champions League in three appearances, with two coming as a substitute―but manager Arsene Wenger never gave him the chance to prove himself over the course of multiple matches.

A transfer became almost inevitable, with Perez and his entourage openly expressing their fury with the team throughout the season.

Setting a price brings a transfer one step closer―per the report, Sevilla, Valencia, Villarreal and Real Sociedad are all interested in his services.

Meanwhile, MailOnline's Simon Jones reported Onyekuru's proposed £6.8 million move has hit a stumbling block, as the player isn't eligible for a work permit under those conditions. Instead, the Gunners will have to cough up £7.8 million and throw in £35,000 in weekly wages for the teenager.

Onyekuru―who plays with the name Henry on his shirt―has been called up to the Nigerian national team in the past but hasn't actually earned a cap yet. National team performances play a crucial part in obtaining a permit.

He enjoyed a sensational season for Belgian side Eupen, who are expected to net close to their yearly budget in the sale. Here's a look at his highlights from the past season:

Onyekuru isn't well-known outside of Belgium or Nigeria, but that should soon change. The speedster has a great feel for the game and plenty of tricks in his bag, and while his vision could use some work, he has all the tools to be a star.

Arsenal should find a way to solve these issues―worst-case scenario, they simply cough up the additional funds to sign a talented youngster for a relatively low fee.
