Corey Coleman Injuries Include Sore Hamstring, May Be Out Until Training Camp
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Corey Coleman is dealing with a sore hamstring along with an unspecified ailment related to landing on a football at organized team activities last week. He could remain sidelined until training camp as a result of the injuries.
Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com provided the update on the wideout's status Thursday. The Browns have not provided a timetable for Coleman's return.
Cleveland head coach Hue Jackson confirmed the organization will play it safe with last year's first-round pick to ensure the issues don't linger into the season. He also admitted the injury stemming from the OTA fall was more serious than initially thought, per Cabot.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
"Right now I'm going to keep him out for a little while and again, that was a tough spill for him," Jackson said. "A little tougher than I thought, but he's making his way through. ... I just think now is the time if a guy is kind of banged up a little bit to make sure they take care of him so that we get him back for training camp. But we'll see how it all unfolds here at the end."
Coleman made 33 catches for 413 yards and three touchdowns across 10 games as a rookie.
A variety of factors, including a six-game absence due to a broken hand, poor quarterback play and his own learning curve, played a role in his lackluster production.
In December, Scott Petrak of the Chronicle-Telegram noted the 22-year-old Baylor product was honest about not putting up the type of numbers he expected.
"I had big goals before the year and I didn't reach them," Coleman said. "And I know family and friends back home, they're really excited to see me play and I just feel like I let a lot of people down just being me."
Getting healthy before the start of camp in late July is key if he's going to have a bounce-back season. He'll need as many first-team reps as possible with the Browns expected to have a quarterback competition between Brock Osweiler, Cody Kessler, DeShone Kizer and Kevin Hogan.
Coleman is penciled in as the team's likely top target due to a lack of high-end talent at the position and the continued absence of Josh Gordon due to an indefinite suspension.
