Paul Pierce Roasts Brandon Jennings' Playoff Performance on 'The Jump'
Paul Pierce began retirement by mocking Brandon Jennings on ESPN's The Jump.
On Thursday, three days after the Boston Celtics eliminated his Washington Wizards from the second round of the 2017 NBA playoffs, Jennings tweeted his plans to play at The Cage's iconic courts in New York City.
The following day, Rachel Nichols asked Pierce for his thoughts on her show. The former Celtics star joked that Jennings should "stay there" after recording 2.8 points per game in a subpar postseason.
He especially struggled against Boston, scoring seven points in as many games off the bench.
Jennings might have drawn Pierce's ire with a tweet he posted (and later deleted) after the Utah Jazz eliminated the Los Angeles Clippers in the opening round, thus ending The Truth's NBA career.
The enigmatic point guard, however, returned to the premise of Pierce not warranting a lavish farewell tour like Kobe Bryant had the previous year.
Pierce—who recently celebrated how his basketball regression set back the Brooklyn Nets multiple years—averaged 3.2 points per game during his final season.
