Twitter Reacts as Russell Westbrook Breaks Oscar Robertson's Triple-Double Mark
Russell Westbrook now sits alone atop the NBA's triple-double throne.
The Oklahoma City Thunder superstar broke Oscar Robertson's record for triple-doubles in a season Sunday with his 42nd of the campaign. He poured in 50 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and dished out 10 assists in a 106-105 victory over the Denver Nuggets.
For good measure, he drilled a 36-foot three-pointer at the buzzer to win it.
Twitter reacted accordingly.
Jordan Brand honored the MVP candidate:
"From O to 0️⃣. Take your throne @RussWest44. #WhyNot pic.twitter.com/xOqpCnU5FS

The NBA responded to the history:
CBS Sports NBA put readers into a time machine and depicted Westbrook dunking over Robertson to take the record:
Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum was ready to give Westbrook the MVP award after he helped Portland clinch the Western Conference's No. 8 seed by virtue of Denver's loss:
All-Stars LeBron James and Blake Griffin weighed in on Westbrook’s showing:
Nathaniel Friedman of GQ Magazine and Royce Young of ESPN.com put Westbrook's effort into perspective:
Chris Dempsey of Altitude Sports noted the Denver crowd recognized greatness from the opposition:
Here's a look at the best of the rest:
Westbrook and the Thunder can now turn their attention to the postseason. They are locked in to the West's No. 6 seed and will square off with James Harden and the No. 3 Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs.
Perhaps the NBA can change its MVP rules and give the winner of the series the Maurice Podoloff Trophy as Westbrook looks to extend his triple-double domination into the playoffs.
