Seth Rollins to WWE SmackDown and Top Potential Moves for Superstar Shake-Up
The Superstar Shake-up, a reset of the WWE Raw and SmackDown rosters, will be an injection of energy for both brands and for wrestlers like Seth Rollins.
Now that The Architect has slain the dark king who has haunted him for months, perhaps it's time to venture elsewhere. We have seen him battle many of Raw's heels already. And SmackDown would gladly welcome a star of his caliber.
Breezango and Sami Zayn are among the other WWE talents who could use the power of a fresh start. They may not have to wait long to get one, either.
WWE owner Vince McMahon announced on the most recent Raw that change is coming in the form of the Superstar Shake-up. This redraft of sorts is set for the April 10 edition of Raw.
What moves would most bolster the two rosters? Which Superstars are most in need a change of scenery?
The following is a dive into those questions, breaking down WWE's best options for the Superstar Shake-up.
Charlotte Flair for Alexa Bliss
The top female heels from both divisions could use a new kingdom to rule.
Flair has battled Sasha Banks time and time again. Her rivalry with Bayley has seemingly run its course. And she has won the Raw Women's Championship four times already.
Bliss' feuds with Becky Lynch and Naomi have reached their natural ends. The Wicked Witch is running out of babyfaces to collide with on the blue brand, especially if Nikki Bella is going on hiatus as expected.
Bliss has seized every opportunity WWE has handed her. There's little doubt she would continue that on Monday nights.
A Flair-Bliss swap would invigorate both Raw and SmackDown. The move could create several fresh matchups. And seeing each villain prowling in a new environment will be entertaining.
Exile on Badstreet host Kris Zellner believes the Bliss' recent losses are a precursor to her switching brands:
Flair is suddenly in the midst of a losing streak of her own, too. Those booking choices have elevated their opponents, but live both Bliss and The Queen in need of momentum.
They can find that post-trade when they conquer a new set of heroes.
Breezango Gets Some Breathing Room
Tyler Breeze and Fandango are wasting away at the bottom of the SmackDown tag team division.
The flamboyant pair of scoundrels has turned a joke "fashion police" gimmick into one of the more fun shticks around. The blue brand has yet to properly showcase them, however.
Breezango sauntering into Raw would give them a jolt.
Suddenly, they would be tangling with the likes of The Hardy Boyz, Enzo Amore and Big Cass. Raw's three-hour format would make it easier to give them more airtime. And WWE can rework their image in a new home.
The New Day is a smart choice as the team to trade them for.
The former Raw champs would give the struggling SmackDown tag team scene an immediate boost. The blue brand doesn't have any squad with their cache.
The New Day have been atop the Raw tag title picture for so long, it will be refreshing to seem them seek another prize this around.
Sami Zayn to SmackDown
Every time it looks like Raw is going to carve out space on its stage for Zayn, it moves on from him too quickly.
His feud with Braun Strowman showcased his fearlessness, highlighting his natural underdog aura. Strowman, though, stomped all over him en route to bigger prey. A briefer version of that tale unfolded against Samoa Joe ahead of WrestleMania.
The red brand hasn't fully embraced Zayn. As Marc Normandin of Cageside Seats wrote, "Audiences are dying for him to get a chance, and WWE just isn't giving him that kind of long look on Raw."
SmackDown would be a more fitting home for him.
He embodies the show's "land of opportunity" motto. He wouldn't have to compete with marquee part-timers like he does on Raw. He could instead have great rivalries against The Miz or AJ Styles.
Plus, he would be separated from Kevin Owens for the time being, giving that long feud some time to breathe.
Seth Rollins on the Blue Brand
Now that Styles has made peace his SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon, the roster move that makes the most sense from a storyline perspective is Raw jettisoning Rollins.
The Architect has spent the past several months chasing down Triple H, bickering with Raw commish Stephanie McMahon and generally raising hell in the midst of a quest for revenge.
He defeated Triple H at WrestleMania in a match where Stephanie crashed through a table. It's not hard to imagine the Raw bosses wanting to get rid of him in retaliation.
Rollins would benefit from the move, though.
Fresh stories and new rivals would await him on the blue brand. A battle with Bray Wyatt is enticing. As is the possibility of him wrestling Styles on many a Tuesday.
SmackDown has long had the reputation for the show that focuses more on in-ring action, so bringing in one of the roster's top performers between the ropes makes perfect sense.
The Superstar Shake-up has the potential to infuse each show with great energy and to set the stage for fresh stories to develop. That's welcome news for the wrestlers most in need of something different, from Bliss to Breezango.
