Manchester United Transfer News: David De Gea Future Key to Summer Plans
Manchester United want to add five players during the summer transfer window, but all of their moves could depend on whether goalkeeper David De Gea leaves for Real Madrid.
That's according to The Independent's Miguel Delaney, who reported the Red Devils want to add ''intensity'' to the team next season and will target players like AS Monaco's Tiemoue Bakayoko and Atletico Madrid's Jose Gimenez, who would bring steel to the side.
But the team might have to show similar intensity in the transfer market, as Real are once again said to be hunting for De Gea, the Spain international who nearly completed a move back to the city in 2015.

Per MailOnline's Pete Jenson, the move only fell through because some paperwork arrived late.

Per Delaney's report, United are preparing for the worst and have already started looking at Inter Milan's Samir Handanovic and AC Milan's Gianluigi Donnarumma as two potential replacements.
Manager Jose Mourinho also reportedly could use the De Gea situation to land former pupil Raphael Varane, who was a favourite of his in the Spanish capital.
According to Delaney, Mourinho's plan is to add a star forward, two midfielders, a defender and a winger. Some of the names being mentioned are Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann―said to be 50-50 to join the club―and the Monaco trio of Bakayoko, Fabinho and Kylian Mbappe. The latter is also a target for Real.
The report concluded by saying United's transfer plans are far from settled, and the key for the summer will be establishing the club as the biggest force on the market. UEFA Champions League football reportedly won't have much of an impact on that stance, although it would help in convincing players to move to Old Trafford.
