Barcelona Transfer News: Marco Verratti Talks Juventus Amid Latest PSG Rumours
Reported Barcelona target Marco Verratti has said he is happy at Paris Saint-Germain but would be open to joining Juventus when he leaves the club.
According to Sport, he said he wants to "continue next season at PSG, where there is an important project" and that in the summer he will "speak with PSG's board and take the best option for me."
The Italian also revealed his admiration for the Bianconeri: "Juventus are one of the four best teams in the world. They have progressed a lot. If in the future I leave PSG, I would not have any problem in going to this club, but today I am good where I am."
Verratti's agent, Donato Di Campli, has also been speaking about his client's future recently:
Per Corriere dello Sport (h/t The Sun's Matt Heath-Smith), Barca and Juve are the two sides at the forefront of the race to sign him.
Grup 14's Rafael Hernandez believes he would make a tremendous signing for the Blaugrana:
The 24-year-old is an outstanding player and possesses the technical and mental qualities that would see him shine with the Catalan giants.
A look at the deep-lying playmaker's stats this season reveal his passing is not only creative but almost metronomic, per Squawka.
The Italy international's intelligence and composure set him apart from many of his contemporaries, and when allied with his exceptional technique, they make him an excellent dribbler too, even in tight spaces, as PSG demonstrated:
He'd make an outstanding candidate to fill the role Xavi Hernandez once enjoyed at the Camp Nou, and likewise, he'd be a strong choice to do the same in Andrea Pirlo's place in Turin.
Both clubs would likely be tempting for Verratti and allow him to continue winning trophies year after year.
Barcelona would perhaps grant him the greater chance of success in the UEFA Champions League, but Juventus have the advantage of being Verratti's boyhood club.
If and when the midfielder leaves the Parc des Princes, it will be fascinating to see the two sides compete for his signature.
