Manchester City Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Jack Wilshere and Danny Rose
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly being put off trying to sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere because he's concerned about the player's fitness.
A report from Neil Fissler of the Sunday Express detailed how Guardiola and City had been keeping tabs on Wilshere during his loan spell with Bournemouth this season: "Manchester City scouts were taking a close look at him earlier in the season after Pep Guardiola thought that he could do a job for him."
However, a recent injury appears to have encouraged Guardiola to have a change of heart, per the reports: "But he has failed to start their last two games after ironically picking up a knock at the worst possible time against City. And it could cost him a move to north-west with Guardiola looking for a major reshaping of his squad this summer."

Fissler's article also detailed how Wilshere's loan spell with the Cherries has not been the success many had hoped for. In fact, the reporter noted how Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has also gone sour on the idea of signing him on a permanent basis.

Howe's reluctance shouldn't come as too big a surprise, though. After all, he has left Wilshere on the bench for Bournemouth's last two matches in the Premier League, per ESPN FC's Nick Miller. He detailed how the Cherries' experiment to play the England international as a No. 10 hasn't solved the issue of finally finding his best position.
Identifying Wilshere's best position hasn't been the biggest concern with the 25-year-old, though. Instead, injuries have been the bane of his career ever since he suffered an ankle problem during pre-season at Arsenal in 2011.
Since then, Wilshere has struggled to stay fit long enough to prove his undoubted quality. Ironically, it's his natural technical accomplishment that likely had Guardiola intrigued in the first place.
The former Barcelona tactician builds his teams on dominating possession and moving the ball between the lines with style. At his best, Wilshere fits this style, having learned the same game from Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.

Yet Guardiola would be right to have concerns about Wilshere's inability to stay off the treatment table. There's also the issue of exactly where he would fit in a City midfield already populated by David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and Fernandinho.
Now Wilshere is said to want a move to Serie A outfit AC Milan this summer, according to Alex Miller of the Mail on Sunday. Guardiola would be smart to let him.
City 'Confident' of Signing Danny Rose
Guardiola may not want Wilshere, but he is reportedly keen on another England international. The player in question is Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose.

According to Neil Moxley of the Sunday People (via the Mirror), "Guardiola is confident of landing Danny Rose for £50 million this summer—with Luke Shaw heading to Tottenham as his replacement. The Manchester City boss has targeted England full-back Rose as a key part of his revamp at the Etihad."
Moxley described how Spurs wouldn't be able to turn down an offer as large as £50 million for the 26-year-old, especially while they shoulder the burden of building a new stadium worth £750 million.
Yet perhaps the bigger question should be is Rose even worth as much as £50 million? He's a terrific athlete who has made great strides as a defender in recent seasons. Still, it's hard to attach so large a fee to a player who took his time making the grade at White Hart Lane.
There is no denying City need help at left-back. The position is undermined by former Arsenal man Gael Clichy's reckless defending and limited contributions going forward. Meanwhile, Guardiola has most often trusted Aleksandar Kolarov as a centre-back rather than in his natural position.

However, it's still debatable whether Rose is the answer to City's issues on the left. Similarly, Wilshere is unlikely to add much more to what is already a midfield brimming with guile and graft.
