Everton Reportedly Seek Funds to Build New Stadium at Bramley Moore Dock
On Wednesday, Everton took "significant steps" in their efforts to construct a new stadium, with arrangements made to purchase Bramley Moore Dock and support from the Liverpool City Council confirmed to build on the land.
Per Andy Hunter of the Guardian, the council will "act as guarantors for the £300 million-plus loans required" for the purchase.
The Premier League club still needs to acquire the finances to fund the new stadium, however, and is seeking commercial lenders, according to Hunter. It was also reported that it will likely take at least three months for the financial package to be put together.

"I understand that creating this financial arrangement is a small step in a long journey for the club, but it is the first step, and for that reason it is a special moment in the city's—and Everton's—long illustrious history," Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson said, per Hunter.
He added: "From the city's perspective, the stadium would complement and accelerate the regeneration plans already in place for north Liverpool, much like the way our partnership with Liverpool FC in the Anfield Project did for their stadium expansion, which has benefited the wider Anfield community."
As Phil McNulty of BBC Sport noted, the new stadium is crucial for Everton's future:
"Goodison Park remains a gloriously atmospheric old arena but even the sentimentalists among Everton's support accept the time has come to move into a new era and new home in line with the ambitions of major shareholder Farhad Moshiri.
Moshiri, along with manager Ronald Koeman, sees this move as crucial to the plan to shift Everton into Europe's elite group, in a modern stadium offering greater profile, greater finances and greater attendances.
"
The new stadium would serve as the replacement for Goodison Park, where Everton have played for the past 125 years.
While Arsenal recently built a lavish new stadium and clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United have undergone ambitious renovation projects, Everton have been in line for a move.
Indeed, updating the facilities will be an important step as Everton look to secure regular European football and attract superstars from around the world in the coming years.
A fancy new stadium doesn't guarantee success, but it's certainly an important asset for a historic and successful club like Everton to take the next step towards becoming one of Europe's most attractive and profitable sides.
