Cristiano Ronaldo Reportedly Seen Saying 'Why Me? F--k Off' After Substitution

Matt JonesMar 19, 2017

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo did little to disguise his dissatisfaction after he was substituted during the team’s 2-1 win Saturday over Athletic Bilbao.

The Portugal international was withdrawn from the action in the second period, and as reported by AS, broadcasters Gol caught the striker using some colourful language in response to the decision. "Why me?" Ronaldo said as he trudged off. "F--k off."

As relayed by Bleacher Report UK, Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane was adamant that even a player of Ronaldo’s quality can be taken off at times:

Per the initial report, the forward didn’t aim any invective directly at his manager as he was replaced by Isco on the 78-minute mark.

As noted by AS, Ronaldo has made no secret of his frustration at being substituted in the past and was noticeably unhappy when he was replaced earlier in the season during a clash with Las Palmas.

Ronaldo didn’t find the net Saturday in the Basque country although Madrid took a big step towards the title with a crucial win. A strike from Karim Benzema and a rare goal for Casemiro saw Zidane’s side pull five points clear at the top of the table ahead of Barcelona’s meeting with Valencia on Sunday.
