Tottenham Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Ross Barkley and Wilfried Zaha
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly targeting moves for both Everton midfielder Ross Barkley and Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha this summer.
According to the Mirror's Darren Lewis, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino "has a long-standing interest" in the pair.
The Toffees man will soon enter the final year of his contract at Goodison Park and could be on the move this summer if Everton cannot convince him to sign a new deal.

Indeed, Everton boss Ronald Koeman admitted as much, per Sky Sports' Lyall Thomas: "You make decisions at the end of the season, and you sign a new contract or you sell the player. There is no 'ultimatum' but that's business—and the player needs to understand this."
Barkley's form was poor in the first half of the season but has improved since the turn of the year, as Bleacher Report UK's own Matt Jones noted:
Meanwhile, according to Lewis, Zaha wanted to move to White Hart Lane last summer, only to be denied twice by Palace.
He has been one of the few outstanding performers at Selhurst Park this year as the Eagles have battled relegation, and he helped them climb out of the bottom three with a goal against West Bromwich Albion in their last match.
Here's a look at the pair's stats this season, courtesy of Squawka:
| Apps | 25 | 22 |
| Minutes | 2,012 | 1,892 |
| Goals | 4 | 4 |
| Assists | 7 | 6 |
| Chances Created | 58 | 25 |
| Take-Ons | 40 | 87 |
| Tackles | 21 | 40 |

| Fouls Suffered | 27 | 68 |
| Passing Accuracy | 83% | 80% |
Squawka further revealed the extent of Zaha's impressive dribbling skills:
Because of his quick feet and the threat he poses, he's also drawn plenty of fouls this season—indeed, only Eden Hazard has been fouled more in the Premier League.
The winger could do with improving his end product, but he could add pace and width to the Lilywhites' side, and it's clear he's willing to do his defensive duties too, which would likely see him fit in well in Pochettino's hard-working team.

As for Barkley, he shines thanks to his creativity—only Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Christian Eriksen, Dimitri Payet and Kevin De Bruyne have created more chances this season—and his goalscoring ability. While he hasn't been as prolific this year, he netted 12 in all competitions last season.
Per the Daily Star's Joel Watson, Pochettino has discussed the difficulties of recruiting from within the Premier League: "There is a good reason [to sign Premier League players] but it's not easy to find the right player for us in the English market. Sometimes you need to guess, and sometimes you need to compete with different clubs who want the same player as you. It is not easy for us."
Barkley and Zaha would both be solid additions to the squad, and the pair would provide plenty of strength in depth. However, it can be argued neither player would improve Spurs' starting XI.
Adding depth is always worthwhile, particularly when balancing domestic and European duties, but if Tottenham are to kick on and challenge the likes of Chelsea for the Premier League title, they also need to bring in top talent as well.
