Tuesday Recap

LEICESTER, ENGLAND - MARCH 14: Wes Morgan of Leicester City celebrates after scoring the opening goal during the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, second leg match between Leicester City and Sevilla FC at The King Power Stadium on March 14, 2017 in Leic

After Leicester's incredibly poor run in the Premier League this season, a victory against one of Spain's best sides appeared impossible just weeks ago.

Since then, Craig Shakespeare has replaced Claudio Ranieri as coach and the Foxes have rediscovered their passion and belief under the 53-year-old manager.

Kasper Schmeichel saved a penalty late in the match as the Leicester fairytale reached new heights, and the English champions reaped the rewards with a fantastic performance and result.

The night began perfectly for the host as Wes Morgan deflected the ball into the back of the net from close range after 27 minutes, sending the King Power Stadium into delirium.

LEICESTER, ENGLAND - MARCH 14: Samir Nasri #10 of Sevilla and Jamie Vardy #9 of Leicester City clash after Nasri was shown a red card during the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, second leg match between Leicester City and Sevilla FC at The King Power S

Sevilla monopolised possession and territory as they battled for an equaliser, but the hosts sat back and soaked up the pressure, exploiting their pace advantage on the break.

Leicester continued to sit deep in the second half, with Sevilla rattling the crossbar after 52 minutes through Sergio Escudero, but just 90 seconds later, it was 2-0 to the English side after Marc Albrighton slotted home.

Sevilla midfielder Samir Nasri saw red with 15 minutes remaining, earning a second yellow card for an aggressive exchange with Jamie Vardy, but the visitors' night went from bad to worse as Steven N'Zonzi missed a vital late penalty.

Pundit Robbie Savage hailed the winners after their phenomenal display:

Italian champions Juve made easy work of their opponents after a convincing first-leg result, and they prevailed 1-0 in Italy to book a spot in the last eight.

Paulo Dybala drilled in a low penalty shortly before half-time after Maxi Periera was sent off for handball.

The goal killed the contest, and the visitors were flat as the Old Lady controlled the encounter with typical Italian composure.

Gonzalo Higuain almost doubled the lead on the night, but the Argentina international fired wide when he should have hit the target.

Leicester's achievement cannot be underestimated, beating one of the best teams from the continent after keeping a clean sheet in the second leg.

The Foxes ran their hearts out as they battled for a positive result, and despite holding the ball for long periods of the game, Sevilla did not have the class they needed at the point of the attack.

Schmeichel was inspired as he shut the door on the Spanish team, but when they needed to put the ball in the net, the Premier League champions delivered in style.
