Recap
Keylor Navas did his very best to hand Real Betis the advantage on Sunday, although the Costa Rica international redeemed himself with a late save that preserved the win.
He should have been sent off for a clear foul as the last man early in the first half, but somehow, the official didn't even award a foul. Just minutes later, he made a complete mess of a routine shot and pushed the ball over the line himself. Bleacher Report UK couldn't help themselves:
Los Blancos were far from their best on Sunday, but veteran forward Cristiano Ronaldo tied things up shortly before half-time to set up a tense second half.
Real battered away but couldn't find a breakthrough until Cristiano Piccini was sent off for a second bookable offence. The stage was set for Ramos to do what he does best, and somehow, he came through once again, powering home a header.
Sports writer Sid Lowe wasn't even surprised:
The win sees Real open up a two-point lead over rivals Barcelona, who have already played one more match. It's a big boost for Los Blancos, who appeared to be cruising to the title until just a few weeks ago and are once again in the driver's seat.
Earlier in the day, Barcelona delivered a flat performance in Galicia, losing 2-1 to Deportivo La Coruna.

The Blaugrana fielded a handful of backups and seemed drained from their epic midweek win over Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League, and Deportivo took full advantage.
Joselu gave his side the lead before half-time, and while Luis Suarez tied things up, the hosts always seemed more likely to win. Alejandro Bergantinos restored the lead with 15 minutes left on the clock, and Barcelona never recovered.
As shared by Bleacher Report UK, the Catalans' poor results in La Liga seem to have one thing in common:
Per the club's official Twitter account, Suarez emphasised he and his team-mates are not giving up on the title race just yet:
Real Sociedad suffered a huge setback in the race for next year's UEFA Champions League, as Basque rivals Athletic Bilbao came away with a 2-0 win at the Anoeta.
Roberto Soldado scored the only goal for Villarreal in their win over Celta Vigo, allowing the Yellow Submarine to pull level on points with Sociedad.
