Liverpool vs. Burnley: Team News, Preview, Live Stream, TV Info

Rob BlanchetteMar 10, 2017

Liverpool welcome Burnley to Anfield as the Reds attempt to solidify their place in the Premier League's top four on Sunday.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has watched his outfit stumble and stutter on numerous occasions, but the Merseyside giants remain just four points off second spot in the division.

Burnley have been imperious at home in the league through the current campaign but remain undeniably vulnerable on the road.

It is impossible to know which Liverpool will turn up against Burnley at the weekend, as Klopp scratches his head at a mixture of alarming defensive inconsistency and attacking brilliance.

When the Reds are allowed to focus on moving the ball forward, they are one of the most progressive sides in England, but the back four has continually let down the manager and supporters.

In their last six games in all competitions, Liverpool have defeated both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur but lost to Leicester City, Hull City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Clarets have become one of the most feared teams when stepping out on home soil, but they cannot reproduce their form travelling away from Turf Moor.

However, coach Sean Dyche has Burnley sat comfortably in mid-table, 11 points clear of the relegation zone—a huge achievement from one of the top division's smaller teams.

The pressure is all on Klopp for the match, and the German has said he understands the lack of patience surrounding Liverpool's form.

According to BBC Sport, Klopp said after the club's recent victory against Arsenal:

"

I understand that some people will lose their patience, but we can't. Development is inconsistent until you are the team you want to be, then you will be consistent.

We should not forget that we can do things like we did today and we will work on this, but the focus is on the long-term project.

That's where we want to be and we try hard and anything for it, and today we showed our nicest face against a strong opponent.

Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge are doubts for the hosts ahead of the clash, but Dejan Lovren could return after a four-game absence, per Coral Barry of Metro. The defender has seen an improvement in his overall form as he finally settles at the club after his switch from Southampton in 2014.

According to Gary Stonehouse of The Sun, the visitors should see the return of Steven Defour after injury, and goalkeeper Tom Heaton is expected to feature after sickness.

The performance of Sadio Mane is likely to swing the result one way or the other, with the attacker emerging as Liverpool's most important talent.

Burnley are weak when they travel away, and the Reds' attacking power should overrun Dyche's tactics.

However, Liverpool have become the most unpredictable team in England, and it is difficult to second-guess when they play at the top of their game.
