Manchester United Transfer News: Latest Marquinhos, Pierpaolo D'Errico Rumours
Chelsea reportedly failed with a €60 million (£52 million) bid for Paris Saint-Germain centre-back and Manchester United target Marquinhos last summer. Meanwhile, United trialist Pierpaolo D'Errico is said to be "dreaming" of a move to Old Trafford.
Lucas Sposito of Sport Witness sourced reports from French newspaper Le 10 Sport and Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo, which both suggested Chelsea offered the sum for Marquinhos before moving for David Luiz instead.
Barcelona are said to have been the other major power interested in a move for Marquinhos, while the Red Devils have been linked with a move for the Brazil international on numerous occasions in recent years.

However, PSG most likely won't be inclined to sell their 22-year-old star, who is part of an emerging stable of promising, young talents at the Parc des Princes, as evidenced by Kristof Terreur of Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws:
"Young guns. Age of PSG's defensive block: Meunier (25), Marquinhos (22), Kimpembe (21), Kurzawa (24) - Verratti (24), Rabiot (21). pic.twitter.com/sShTNpUaUT

Sposito mentioned in his report that Brazilian agent Giuliano Bertolucci told Mundo Deportivo that Marquinhos has been stalled in his contract talks for some time, giving the likes of United hope if they're to pursue the defender again.
Manager Jose Mourinho already took a substantial step forward in strengthening his defence by signing Eric Bailly, also 22, from Villarreal last summer, an investment that football writer Liam Canning noted is already paying dividends:
However, United need another world-class centre-back presence if they're to regain their former status as one of the world's finest teams, and Marquinhos, like Bailly, could patrol their defence for years to come.
Marquinhos moved to Paris from AS Roma in 2013 and has gathered a reputation as one of Europe's biggest prospects, although Bleacher Report's Samuel Rooke highlighted a weak point in his partnership with compatriot Thiago Silva:
United at least now have some idea as to the amount they'd be required to pay if they were to press on with any move for Marquinhos, although they may need to wait for PSG to find a replacement before they can bag their man.
Elsewhere, highly rated Italian youngster D'Errico has told Italian outlet Di Marzio of his hopes of joining United after recently impressing on a trial with the club (h/t Metro's Sean Kearns).
He said: "Being here [in Manchester] is an indescribable feeling, a great joy. Today I trained with the Under-18 and, in the field next door, I saw Ibra [Zlatan Ibrahimovic] and co. work. The teams were very strong. I, however, do not stop dreaming."
D'Errico played at the Parabita Heffort Soccer Dream tournament with United's under-18s in Lecce and scored a hat-trick for the side before meeting Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
