B/R Kicks: Top Releases of the Week
March Madness is right around the corner, which means the sneaker world is about to get the old college treatment.
This week's set of releases focuses in on Nike's collegiate pride and two unique Adidas models, which should drum up quite the buzz. The result of this concoction creates plenty of choices for anyone hunting in the marketplace.
As always, skip down below and browse the five releases you need to be on the lookout for this weekend.
Nike Kyrie 3 'Duke'
1 of 5
Sneaker: Nike Kyrie 3 "Duke"
Release Date: March 10
Price: $120
Kyrie Irving's tenure with the Duke Blue Devils lasted 11 games before he shipped off to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Eleven games, though, have turned into a string of Duke-themed Kyrie signature models.
The Kyrie 3 takes its annual plunge into Mike Krzyzewski's world, using traditional Duke colors as its driver. One major difference between this "Duke" edition and previous models is the bold lettering slapped onto the sidewalls, something everyone can appreciate.
Large, uncompromising text that reads "Duke" cements these particular Kyrie 3s as a must-own pair for anyone who pulls for the Blue Devils. Shipping out on March 10, the "Duke" Kyrie 3 will run you $120.
Adidas Crazy Explosive Low 'White Primeknit'
2 of 5
Sneaker: Adidas Crazy Explosive Low "White Primeknit"
Release Date: March 10
Price: $140
The moment we've all been waiting for is finally upon us. Adidas is releasing its Crazy Explosive Low "White Primeknit" on March 10, helping transition arguably the best basketball sneaker on the market into a low-top.
Between a complex, workable lace structure and powerful, full-length Boost technology infused into the sole—different than the Adidas Ultra Boost—the Crazy Explosive Low was built to last a generation.
We can't imagine why Adidas wouldn't push this model into next season and beyond. Aside from its fluid design, the wearability factor is off the charts.
Nike Kobe A.D. 'Oregon'
3 of 5
Sneaker: Nike Kobe A.D. "Oregon"
Release Date: March 10
Price: $160
Kobe Bryant never played for the University of Oregon. His high school days at Lower Merion were all we got from a nonprofessional vantage point.
However, his long-term shoe deal with Nike—a company who happens to love the Oregon Ducks—allows our imaginations to run wild. The Nike Kobe A.D. "Oregon" serves as fantasy kicks. Besides looking the part, these sneakers almost serve as a "What if?" question. Can you imagine if the Black Mamba played at Oregon?
A contingency of black-and-gold layering, fitted with the Oregon logo on the heel tabs, is enough to force these Kobe A.D.'s into sellout mode when they arrive on March 10. Stick to Nike's SNRKS app for your shot to claim a pair.
Nike Zoom KD 9 'Texas'
4 of 5
Sneaker: Nike Zoom KD 9 "Texas"
Release Date: March 10
Price: $150
March is a great time for college sports fans in more ways than one. Checking back strictly on what we've seen so far, Nike is taking a visual approach for its signature athlete's alma maters.
Kevin Durant's home school of Texas receives a specialized treatment in the form of a Nike Zoom KD 9, dropping March 10. The shoe is dressed with traditional longhorn colors. That smokey, barbecue orange draped over an off-white base creates a beautiful landscape.
Of all the Nike signature models released this season, the KD 9 wins in terms of opulent materials and character. The "Texas" KD 9 is yet another nod to Nike's grandiose achievement in design.
Adidas Superstar Boost 'Noble Metal'
5 of 5
Sneaker: Adidas Superstar Boost "Noble Metal"
Release Date: March 10
Price: $120
Adidas has been positioning its Superstar model—a flag-bearer of the company—for a present-day push. By adding Boost technology into the sneaker's very existence, the Superstar finally has a chance to reinvent itself.
Here is the Superstar Boost "Noble Metal," set to release March 10 for $120. A gray upper accented with gold stripes and heel tabs visually works for these kicks. Also, there is no leather upper in sight. Instead, the Superstar Boost features Primeknit.
Still, the coolest element of this shoe remains the hidden Boost foam, tucked ever so gently into the midsole.
Anyone who appreciates the Superstar's lineage should be all over this release. It's a timeless design, updated with charismatic technology—an idea that could bode well for the future of Air Jordan retros.
