Champions League Results 2017: Qualified Teams After Tuesday's Round-of-16 Ties
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid took care of business on Tuesday, becoming the first two teams to qualify for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League with wins over Arsenal and Napoli, respectively.
Both teams struggled in the first half but turned up the jets after the break, replicating the scorelines from the first legs. For Bayern, that meant a monstrous 10-2 aggregate win over the Gunners, while Real had to settle for a 6-2 aggregate score.

While Arsenal were all but eliminated coming into the second leg, the Gunners put together a solid performance until a single poor decision from the officials turned the match on its head.

Theo Walcott had given the hosts the lead in the first half, and the Gunners dominated before the break. Bayern took control in the second half, and Laurent Koscielny was sent off for a soft foul on Robert Lewandowski, for which the visitors also received a penalty. Lewandowski tied things up, and Arsenal fell apart completely.
What followed was a total demolition. Arturo Vidal scored twice and Arjen Robben and Douglas Costa joined in on the scoring fun.
At the conclusion of the match, Bleacher Report UK couldn't help themselves:
It was a very harsh result on the Gunners, who were already furious with the officials at that point. Xabi Alonso and Walcott made contact in the box, and the forward couldn't believe it when he wasn't awarded a penalty. Replays confirmed Alonso got the ball before he went through Walcott, however.
But whether or not the referee killed their momentum, there was no excuse for how the Gunners quit once Lewandowski tied things up. The hosts simply gave up, and Bayern were rampant as a result.
Eurosport.co.uk's Tom Adams felt sorry for manager Arsene Wenger:
"It's just so sad at this point. Wenger's become a tragic figure suffering humiliation after humiliation and it just shouldn't end like that

Napoli put up a far better challenge by comparison, but a brace from Sergio Ramos doomed their chances of advancing. The Partenopei needed to overcome a 3-1 defeat from the first leg and started things off perfectly, with Dries Mertens scoring first.
The Italians dominated the first half, but Cristiano Ronaldo went close, hitting the post. Mertens suffered a similar fate, and at half-time, there was every reason to believe in Napoli's chances.

But not for the first time, Ramos liberated his team, converting twice from set pieces to all but end the tie. Former Juventus star Alvaro Morata added a third goal.
As shared by ESPN FC's Dermot Corrigan, Ramos acknowledged he and his team-mates struggled in the first half:
Paris Saint-Germain will defend a four-goal lead against Barcelona on Wednesday, and like Real and Bayern, they're expected to cruise to the next round. Benfica and Borussia Dortmund will meet in the other match.
