WWE Raw: Potential Spoilers, Rumors, News and Preview for March 6

Ryan DilbertMar 6, 2017

WWE Raw is going all in on Goldberg.

The former WCW star bowled over Kevin Owens at Sunday's Fastlane pay-per-view to claim the Universal Championship. Goldberg will now head into his WrestleMania 33 collision with Brock Lesnar standing under the spotlight with gold in his hand.

Chicago's Allstate Arena will host as Goldberg celebrates his title win, and the build toward WrestleMania 33 on April 2 will begin in earnest.

Thanks to what unfolded at Fastlane, Raw is also set to feature an enraged Braun Strowman, a cruiserweight rematch from the Royal Rumble and a crowded women's title picture. A surprise return could be in the works, as well, which would help wipe the bad taste of Fastlane out of fans' mouths.

Who will show up in Chicago? What direction will the red brand's stories go? The Raw preview on WWE.com, backstage news and social media updates help provide some insight ahead of the show.

The first Raw with Goldberg as champ will kick off on Monday at 8 p.m. ET on USA Network.

News, Potential Spoilers

The wait for Finn Balor's return may soon be over.

The inaugural universal champ has been out since SummerSlam, recovering from a torn labrum. He did, however, pop up at NXT recently for a brief bit of physicality.

As seen on WWE's Instagram, Balor took down Andrade "Cien" Almas and NXT champion Bobby Roode at an NXT event on Feb 22:

The post noted that Balor hadn't been cleared, but the fact that he's issuing clotheslines in a wrestling ring is a sign his return is imminent. And with WrestleMania on its way, it makes sense to plug The Demon back into the mix.

Rusev noted on Twitter that he will be taking time off from working out:

That has led to speculation that he will go on a short hiatus from WWE as well. His breakup with tag team partner Jinder Mahal at Fastlane and his loss to Big Show that night will only further fuel that talk.

And those hoping The Hardy Boyz would return to WWE will be disappointed.

Dave Meltzer mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc) that after leaving Impact Wrestling, Matt and Jeff Hardy are committed to Ring of Honor for the moment.

"They're not going to WWE anytime soon. I do not know the length of the [ROH] deal, but it's not a two month deal," Meltzer said.

Raw Streaks

Samoa Joe has dominated in the early part of his tenure on the red brand.

The Destroyer is 2-0 on Raw after knocking off Cesaro and Roman Reigns, as seen on CageMatch.net. Add a win over Sami Zayn at Fastlane, and Joe is clearly headed upward.

Will he feast again in Chicago? Is WWE setting him up for something prominent at WrestleMania? Monday's show will help answer that.

Noam Dar, meanwhile, hasn't had any success on Monday nights. The Scottish Supernova has some wins on 205 Live under his belt, but Raw hasn't been as kind to him.

Following his loss to Akira Tozawa last week, Dar is now 0-8 on Raw, per CageMatch.net.

He's not exactly being buried, as he's been showcased quite a bit and involved in a storyline centered on his relationship with Alicia Fox. Still, early signs point to his residing on a low tier of the cruiserweight division for the time being.

Fastlane Fallout

One of the biggest questions surrounding WrestleMania remains whether Seth Rollins will be healthy enough to compete at the event.

He was on track to battle former mentor Triple H but re-injured his surgically repaired knee in January. WWE has since been noncommittal about Rollins' WrestleMania status. Monday's Raw, though, will offer a look at Rollins' rehabilitation.

The company has kept The Architect in the spotlight since his injury, which feels like a sign that it's hopeful about his coming back.

In the cruiserweight division, Neville will face another test on Monday night. A Cruiserweight Championship bout with Rich Swann awaits him.

Neville outlasted Jack Gallagher in a title tilt on Sunday. Backstage, he learned that Swann, the man Neville beat for the title, will challenge him for the gold on Raw in Chicago.

The Allstate Arena may also see the aftereffects of Roman Reigns' PPV victory over Strowman.

Reigns speared Strowman on Sunday to fell the giant. The Raw preview on WWE hinted at the big man seeking payback: "Strowman is no doubt fuming following this defeat, and will be on the warpath tonight on Raw in The Windy City. Will Reigns cross paths with this rampaging Goliath?"

Charlotte Flair is sure to have revenge on her mind as well.

On Sunday, Sasha Banks' interference assured that Flair lost her Raw Women's Championship match with Bayley. The Queen's undefeated PPV streak ended as a result, too.

It's looking more and more like WWE is building toward a four-way clash between Nia Jax, Flair, Banks and Bayley. Expect those warriors to tangle in some fashion on Monday to continue that process.

As for Goldberg, we know exactly what he will be up to at WrestleMania 33. The former Atlanta Falcon is set for a bout with Lesnar, and after defeating Owens, that showdown will be for the universal title.

The Raw preview noted that Goldberg will be in attendance on Monday: "We'll hear from the new Universal Champion tonight."

Owens may be too concerned with fighting his former friend Chris Jericho to take a swing at the man who dethroned him at Fastlane. Jericho distracted KO on Sunday, causing him to lose the belt.

Elsewhere, Goldberg will sit atop the Raw food chain as WWE tries to tout a New Era with a 50-year-old Superstar at the center.
