The Lionesses will enter the game with the greater confidence after their 1-0 upset win over the USWNT on Saturday. Naturally, goalscorer White was the heroine, but there were many more standout performances.

Among them, goalkeeper Siobhan Chamberlain proved a stubborn figure between the posts. Skipper Steph Houghton was also solid defensively, as was Lucy Bronze, whose forwards runs from the back were a feature of England's play in New Jersey.
Houghton and Bronze must again be at their best against a German attack combining ample pace and ingenuity in the final third. Striker Lena Petermann will provide plenty of danger, but it's veteran internationals such as 31-year-old forward Anja Mittag and playmaker Dzsenifer Marozsan who will be the biggest threats.
Marozsan skippers the side and is a terrific talent from the No. 10 position. Her vision, innate flair and class on the ball make Germany menacing between the lines.
Cutting off the supply lines between Marozsan, Petermann and Mittag will be vital for the Lionesses. The tactic will demand Jill Scott and Jordan Nobbs breaking up play and using the ball wisely whenever England have it.

Ultimately, though, an attempt to negate Germany's pass-and-move game with overt physicality may not be enough for England to beat the Olympic champions. The Germans' experience and class should prevent the Lionesses from building on that notable win over the USWNT.
